This is the debut album from the late DJ Spell aka Brian Caufield, who was murdered last month in LA. It was released just a few weeks prior to his death.

The album is called BLAZY DAYZ, and its really really dope. My man really came a long way on the beats during the last few years of his life, and this album is really a pinnacle piece of work and it really perfectly captures the unique sound he had been working on his whole life.

Its still 4/20 for 30 more minutes on the west coast. This is the perfect album to end your holiday with, its a great stoner-centric instrumental album that will take you through the mind of a producer from California who is enjoying his frequent trips to the medicinal stores that are now legal out there.

This is exemplified by the song titles, each song being named after one of the many medicinal strains of marijuana that is sold in the shops of Southern Cali.

This was another imprint of the late DJ Spell's aka Brian Caufield, who was murdered almost a month ago now in Los Angeles.

Dude was extremely entrepreneurial and always had a ton of creative outlets, upstart crews, and aliases.

He will be greatly missed.

Brian was murdered last week in LA. He had many ties to the Colorado Hip Hop Community, we will be featuring a ton of his work all month in his memory.

Some of the video footage was even filmed in Denver, you maybe will recognize the Saxophone player in the montage. (And also the dude who throws money is his hat.)



This is a dope production, and a collaborative effort that involved many people in Colorado, the beat I believe was made out of the video of the guy playing Saxophone, dope shit.

Next month I am going to try to compile some of his music together and maybe work on a tribute depending what some of our close friends are thinking.

(Editor's Note: As I revisit his Myspace page I am in awe, I had no idea dude had gotten up so much with the graffiti, and had been doing so much music. Brian was incredibly prolific and hardworking, it is going to take A LOT more of these articles for us to truly shed light on the scope of his work. The more time I spend on that Myspace page the more distraught I am over this shit.)

PIECE OF SOUL

This was Brian Caufield's dream and enterprise. For the last 10 years of his life this was Brian's goal, to turn P.O.S. (Product of Society, Piece of Soul) into a successful clothing line and record label.

It hurts me just to write about this.

Brian made his way from Texas, to Colorado, and then to LA, carrying with him the whole time his dream aka P.O.S.

Along the way he recruited many people into his crew, including DJ Cysko Rokwel, DJ Tense, and his brother MC Dusto.

Brian Caufield aka DJ Spell aka Chasm was murdered in LA last week, he will be greatly missed.

Being a generous person, he had the opprutunity to touch many lives and to come in contact with many people.

He was the type of person that always left you with a great story to tell about him, full of life and fun to be around. This is so fucked up.

Here is some of his graffiti that he did, Brian really really loved graffiti. Not just painting, but also going out and viewing the work of others and taking notes and analysis.
